Battle of Fire Support Base Crook In June of 1969, a battle took place at FSB Crook in Tay Ninh Province . There was movement detected by sensors, so artillery was fired out. Once things began to calm down artillery was halted until, rockets were fired at the base. The base was attacked by North Vietnamese Army regiments. Sixteen NVA passed the perimeter and were killed. Those at the base retaliated with machine guns, and US Air Force crafts provided air support. Near the end, NVA throw grenades but were unable to penetrate the forces. This battle lasted for two nights and two NVA regiments were defeated by Bravo Company. Four hundred NVA were killed and one GI was killed. |
